Munich-based local TV broadcaster münchen.tv will terminate its DTT distribution in Munich and southern Bavaria on May 31, 2015 at its own request, according to Bavarian media authority BLM.
The broadcaster wants to focus on offering its programmes in HD resolution which is currently not possible on the German DVB-T network. However, the rollout of successor system DVB-T2 which is to commence in mid-2016 will enable HD transmissions on DTT.
münchen.tv will continue to broadcast on cable, on Deutsche Telekom’s IPTV platform Entertain and as a live-stream on its website.
