Global IP video will represent 80% of all traffic by 2019, up from 67% in 2014, according to Cisco Visual Networking Index.
As the increase in data traffic continues to be fueled by services such as Spotify’s recently launched video and podcast platform, the annual forecast predicts that global video consumption will reach nearly 3 trillion internet video minutes per month by 2019 – which is 5 million years of video per month, or about 1 million video minutes every second.
Connected TVs will account for 12% (2.9 billion) of all networked devices in 2019, compared to 11% (1.5 billion) in 2014, (14.2% CAGR).
Globally, TVs accounted for 29% of IP traffic in 2014, and will be 22% of IP traffic in 2019.
Non-Smartphones will account for 12.7% (3.1 billion) of all networked devices in 2019, compared to 32% (4.5 billion) in 2014, (-7.4% CAGR).
Other Portables will account for 4% (875.9 million) of all networked devices in 2019, compared to 5% (693.1 million) in 2014, (4.8% CAGR).
Ultra HD/4K TVs will account for 31% (371.5 million) of all flat panel TVs in 2019, compared to 2.7% (9.9 million) in 2014, (106.3% CAGR).
