The Czech Republic has moved a stage closer to adopting a strategy on the second digital dividend, namely the allocation of the 700MHz band, currently used by DTT broadcasts, for mobile broadband services.
Digizone reports that the Office of the Prime Minister has produced a key document outlining the country’s position ahead of the WRC 2015 this autumn in Geneva. It will be on the agenda of the government’s next meeting.
As previously reported in Broadband TV News, the second digital dividend is a contentious issue in the Czech Republic, pitting broadcasters and operators of broadcast networks against mobile companies.
Meanwhile, the Czech Telecom Office (CTU) has already spoken out in favour of retaining the 470-694 MHz band for DTT service after the release of the so-called third digital dividend.
