The Slovak broadcaster Joj will launch its planned movie channel Joj Cinema if there is sufficient interest in the service.
However, quoted by Parabola, its marketing manager Miroslava Klempova added that it does not yet have a licence for the channel and would have a year to launch it once one was obtained.
Even so, Parabola points out, Joj Cinema could be launched as soon as the middle of June.
Joj is, along with TV Markiza, one of the two leading commercial broadcasters in Slovakia.
It currently operates four FTA channels – Joj, Plus, Wau and Senzi – along with the paid-for children’s channel RIK, which was launched at the beginning of this year.
If it goes ahead, Joj Cinema would be its second paid-for service.
