RCS&RDS and UPC have attracted the lion’s share of new fixed line broadband internet subscribers in Romania in the last two years.
Quoting its analysis, based on data published by the regulator ANCOM, ZF reports that RCS&RDS accounted for nearly half (47%) of such subscribers over the period, thereby further strengthening its market position.
Meanwhile, UPC claimed 20% and Telekom Romania (formerly known as Romtelecom) only 7%, with the remainder been shared out among smaller players.
It adds that UPC has invested heavily in infrastructure, allowing it to add 100,000 to its broadband subscriber total in the last two years.
This figure was over three times the number secured by Telekom.
