Spotify launches video, announces content deals

Vice News on SpotifyWATCH VIDEO. Spotify has now launched its new streaming video service as well as adding new features to its audio offer including podcasts and Spotify Originals.

Spotify’s move into video was announced earlier this month, and has now gone live on May 20 in the US, and will be rolled out to other platforms and countries later on.

Spotify’s video offers entertainment, news and clips from the likes of ABC, Adult Swim, BBC, Comedy Central, Condé Nast Entertainment, ESPN, Fusion, Maker Studios, NBCUniversal, TBS, TED and Vice News, with much more to come (see full content list below).

At the same time, Spotify also has launched Spotify Now, offering users “a soundtrack for their lives.” The new Now experience will begin rolling out today to iPhone users in the US, UK, Germany and Sweden – with more markets and platforms to follow in the near future

“We’re bringing you a deeper, richer, more immersive Spotify experience,” says Daniel Ek, Founder and CEO at Spotify.

“We want Spotify to help soundtrack your life by offering an even wider world of entertainment with an awesome mix of the best music, podcasts and video delivered to you throughout your day. And we’re just getting started.”

Spotify Running is aimed at people running and has now started rolling out to iPhone users globally.
