The Spanish regulator CNMC has initiated disciplinary proceedings against the broadcasters Mediaset and Atresmedia.
In each instance, they relate to exceeding the permitted limits of airtime allowed for advertising on their channels – Telecinco and Cuatro in the case of Mediaset and Antena 3 for Atresmedia – as stipulated in the General Law on Audiovisual Communication (LGCA).
The alleged offences took place in the fourth quarter of 2014.
The proceedings can last a maximum of six months and both broadcasters have 15 days to submit comments.
