UPC Romania has acquired a local cable operator in Prahova named TCCOM.
According to ZF, the deal has not been officially announced but confirmed by multiple industry sources.
It adds that fee pay for the company, which was established in the 1990s and currently has around 15,000 TV and internet subscribers, in the region of €1.5 million to €2 million.
It is significant in that it could mark the start of a period of expansion for the Liberty Global owned operator, which is currently understood to be negotiating several deals in both urban and rural areas.
UPC Romania has not made any local acquisitions for the last 7-8 years, while competitors such as RCS&RDS, AKTA and Telekom (though it has now stopped) have grown their cable portfolios.
