Mediaset breaks ad rules

April 30, 2015 10.32 Europe/London By Chris Dziadul

Mediaset EspanaThe Spanish regulator CNMC has fined Mediaset for exceeding the maximum permitted airtime for advertising.

The infringements took place on Telecinco, Cuatro and FDF in June 2014 and ran counter to the General Law of Audiovisual Communication, which limits commercial airtime, for advertising and teleshopping, to 12 minutes per calendar hour.

Mediaset now has two months to file an administrative appeal before the National Court should it wish to contest the fine, which amounts to €49,263.
