The service was withdrawn from the country after a new law prohibiting the distribution of cable and satellite-distributed channels that carried advertising came into effect at the beginning of this year.
The law was subsequently amended allowing such channels with a minimum 75% Russian content to still carry advertising.
CNN applied for and received a new universal broadcasting licence at the end of March.
The first platform to begin showing CNN again is Tricolor TV, which as of yesterday (April 29) placed CNN International in its basic service.
It now makes up part of a package of foreign language channels that includes France 24, Deutsche Welle, NHK World and RT.
Tricolor TV is leading provider of pay-TV services in Russia and as of the end of Q1 had 11.01 million subscribers.
