Serbia’s telecom market was worth over €1.5 billion last year, or 6% of total GDP, according to Milan Jankovic, the director of the Regulatory Agency for Electronic Communications and Postal Service (RATEL).
Quoted by Tanjug and Balkans.com, Jankovic was speaking ahead of a meeting dedicated to the development of the telecom market in EU member states and candidate countries.
The meeting also marked the 10th anniversary of the regulator.
In the meeting, he said that 4G technology had been introduced into Serbia this March.
The Serbian market is currently served by 217 ISPs, along with 14 fixed and three mobile telephony operators.
There are also 98 media outlets.
