German media company M. DuMont Schauberg wants to acquire a 35% stake in interactive youth channel joiz Deutschland.
German anti-media concentration commission KEK has already approved the plans. The Federal German Cartel Office still has to decide.
The free-to-air channel filed for insolvency in December 2014 and has been undergoing restructuring since then to cut down its costs. As part of this process, joiz will terminate its DTH satellite transmission on Astra (19.2° East) on May 1, 2015.
DuMont Schauberg publishes several newspapers, holds stakes in radio stations and operates local TV channel Köln.tv. The channel which covers Cologne and surroundings already uses the software solution for interactive, cross-platform television developed by joiz.
