Dailymotion inks key Asian deal

Fred Chong & Marc EychenneMIPTV 2015 – CANNES. Asia’s Multi Channel Network and Digital Studio, WebTVAsia has reached an agreement on a multi-year partnership with Dailymotion to collaborate on a 100-channel roll-out as well as exclusive co-production for the Asian market.

Marc Eychenne, VP of content at Dailymotion, expressed delight at the partnership, “We are extremely proud to be associated with WebTVAsia, the most prominent MCN and digital studio spanning Asia-wide market particularly China and South East Asia. We look forward to working very closely together to set a major footprint in Asia.”

Group CEO of WebTVAsia, Fred Chong also conveyed a very optimistic outlook with this collaboration with Dailymotion by saying, “Dailymotion is the leading video platform globally and WebTVAsia is privileged to work with our first of many European partners to penetrate the exciting Asian market.”

WebTVAsia showed its mantle with China’s number one song Little Apple that became a global 200 million-view viral sensation, with WebTVAsia producing four original music videos for the Korean, Taiwanese, Thai and Malaysian territories. It also took China’s biggest comedy web series The Unexpected, from zero to 130,000 subscribers on YouTube within six months. Its YouTube MCN platform is averaging 150 million views monthly, from over three million subscribers.

Dato’ Kamil Othman, Director General of the National Film Development Corporation (FINAS) which has led the Malaysian delegation at MIPTV and MIPCOM markets for many years, also remarked, “This major milestone is in line with the Malaysian Government’s aspiration to encourage and nurture the growth of the next generation of digital content companies within its shores that can become truly global players. WebTVAsia has proudly set the wheels into motion and we give our fullest support to the endeavour”.
