German video-on-demand (VOD) provider maxdome has acquired more than 700 movies and series from Sony Pictures Television.
The agreement of which financial details have not been disclosed contains more than 130 films each year such as Django Unchained and Here Comes the Boom as well as TV series like Tudors, The Big C and The Client List which will be offered as part of maxdome’s subscription package (SVOD).
The subsidiary of German commercial TV group ProSiebenSat.1 has also secured the rights to several current movies which will be available as stand-alone titles for rent or purchase as soon as they have left the cinemas, partially ahead of their DVD release, for example The Equalizer and Who Am I.
