Non Stop People launches in Spain

April 9, 2015 09.08 Europe/London By Robert Briel

Non Stop PeopleNon Stop People will launch a Spanish version of the channel on June 1, 2015.

Non Stop People Spain will broadcast continuous news, 24 hours 7 days a week, on international and Hispanic stars. The channel will launch exclusively on Telefonica’s Movistar TV platform.

Non Stop People was launched in France thirty months ago and is a joint-venture between Banijay and Mediatic System.

Like Non Stop People in France, the Spanish channel will have an editorial team of thirty journalists and its own studio in the centre of Madrid. In total more than sixty people will work for the new channel which will produce its own content.

Non Stop People Spain will be overseen by Jose Manuel Lorenzo, President of Banijay Spain and former managing director of Canal + in Spain. The editorial team will be led by Antonio San Jose. Formerly news
director at CNN+, Canal + and Spain’s national radio, Antonio San Jose was also news deputy director at Antena 3.

“We are very proud of the launch of Non Stop People in Spain,” said Hugues Dangy, president and founder of Non Stop People in France.

“It demonstrates the strength and relevance of our original concept, and its international potential. The possibilities that we are opening up for the Hispanic market are huge and we intend to capitalise on the expertise of our Spanish teams to accelerate our global development.”

“This is a fantastic opportunity to launch Non Stop People in Spain. The straight-forward concept of Non Stop People – to cover 24/7 celebrity news both local and international – had instant appeal to Telefonica,” added Jose Manuel Lorenzo, president of Non Stop People in Spain.

“We have put in place a strong editorial team to attract the young Movistar TV audience. We believe the creativity and originality of our content will become the destination for Spain’s new generation looking for celebrity news. I am certain that our new channel will quickly find its place in the market and the next step in our development will be a move into Latin America in the near future.”
