German video-on-demand (VOD) provider maxdome has secured an extensive rights package from Hollywood studio Walt Disney Pictures.
The agreement contains movies and series which the subsidiary of commercial broadcast group ProSiebenSat.1 can show ahead of their free-to-air TV debut and in some cases only one day after their US TV debut.
When the new seasons of Grey’s Anatomy, Castle, Criminal Minds and Devious Maids are aired on German free-to-air TV, the customers of maxdome’s subscription-VOD service can watch the episodes one week earlier. Also, a new series from ABC Studios will be added to maxdome’s SVOD package each month.
The deal also covers current cinema releases which maxdome can offer for rent or purchase shortly after their cinema screening.
Many series will be available for purchase on maxdome the day after their US TV debut including Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., the fourth seasons of Scandal and Revenge and the eleventh season of Grey’s Anatomy.
