M7 Platform Services to distribute Scripps channels

April 2, 2015 07.27 Europe/London By Robert Briel

FineLivingNetworkScripps Networks UK & EMEA has extended its agreement with the M7 Group platform for the European distribution of Travel Channel HD, Food Network and Fine Living.

Following the new agreement, Food Network HD will be made available to subscribers of M7 Group’s pay-TV platforms in the Czech Republic, Slovakia (Skylink), The Netherlands (Canal Digitaal) and Flanders (TV Vlaanderen). Travel Channel HD is currently available in these territories, as well as the Food Network SD-version and Fine Living channel.

As part of the same agreement, M7 Platform Services will arrange for the satellite delivery of Travel Channel HD, Food Network HD, Food Network SD and Fine Living SD to third party operators within the European footprint of Astra 3B at 23.5 degrees East.

This service scheme includes the provision of smartcards and CI modules, 24/7 quality monitoring and help desk support to third party operators.

“Following the success of Travel Channel HD, Fine Living and Food Network in standard definition in these territories, we are pleased to expand our partnership with the M7 Group. By delivering our Food Network programming also in HD, we are able to offer viewers the world’s leading food, entertainment and lifestyle channel in the best quality possible,” said Jon Sichel, managing director, Scripps Networks UK & EMEA.

“We are very happy with this further extension of our service offering to Scripps Networks UK & EMEA, now also including the third party satellite distribution of its key channels,” said Bill Wijdeveld, VP Business Development at M7 Group said:

“Moreover, our Direct-to-Home viewers in the Benelux and CEE markets will have the chance to enjoy Food Network in full HD quality. The agreement with Scripps reconfirms that our ‘best of two worlds’ distribution approach meets a growing demand from the broadcast industry for cost-efficient signal delivery solutions.”
