TVP’s president Juliusz Braun has confirmed that the broadcaster will take part in a competition to secure an operator’s licence for the eighth DTT multiplex (MUX-8).
Quoted by Wirtualne Media, he added that it would like to distribute TVP Kultura in HD and the new channel TVP Dokument on the multiplex.
Braun also said that TVP plans to launch more thematic channels and at the same time develop its kids channel TVP ABC, making it into the market leader in the sector.
In addition, he confirmed the broadcaster is working on a new programming strategy for TVP HD.
The tender for MUX-8 was launched on March 13 and bids are being invited until April 29.
Those that have already confirmed their interest include Polski Operator Telewizyjny (POT), a joint venture between Polsat and TVN.
Separately, TVP has posted a profit of PLN6.3 million (€1.5 million) for 2014.
It has also announced that it will operate a special internet channel from this Thursday (April 2) to midnight on Friday (April 3) to commemorate the 10th anniversary of the death of Pope John Paul II.
