RSCC’s Express-AM7 satellite has reached geo-stationary orbit and commissioning is on track to start in May this year.
The satellite, which was built on the Eurostar-3000 platform by Airbus D&S, was launched on March 19.
Comprised of 80 C, Ku and L band transponders and eight antenna systems, two of which are steerable, it has been assigned the 40 degrees East slot and will cover Russia, Western Europe and Asia.
Commenting on the satellite reaching its geostationary orbit, Oleg G Dukhovnitsky, chief of the Federal Communications Agency, said: “We at Rossviaz have followed the satellite’s maneuvers with particular attention. The successful launch and subsequent commissioning of the satellite will make it possible for our subordinate entity to enhance operational efficiency and make a wider choice of services available to users”.
