German commercial TV group ProSiebenSat.1 can now broadcast regional commercials on the cable networks of Unitymedia Kabel BW in federal states North-Rhine Westphalia, Hessen and Baden-Württemberg on its TV channels Sat.1 and ProSieben; kabel eins will follow soon.
The regionalised ad playout is enabled by a distribution partnership ProSiebenSat.1 signed with the cable operator.
In North-Rhine Westphalia, a local insurance company will be the first advertiser making use of the new opportunity. In Hessen, furniture department store Hebeisen and in Baden-Württemberg and Hessen gardening and plant mail order company Pötschke will be the first customers.
ProSiebenSat.1 recently also opened to the door to regional advertising in Bavaria through a collaboration with local TV group TV Bayern and cable operator Kabel Deutschland.
Germany’s Federal Administrative Court gave the green light to regional commercials on nationwide commercial TV channels in December 2014.
