Dutch incumbent KPN is adding a bouquet of German language channels to its IPTV service.
The new channel package, which will cost €2.50 a month, consists of Sat.1, NDR, ProSieben, Kika (KinderKanal), 3Sat, Einsfestival and Tagesschau24 from ARD.
The new channels come in addition to the current line-up of German channels in the basic tier, ARD Das Erste, ZDF, Arte, WDR and RTL Television.
People who subscribe to the new bouquet will receive the first six months for free.
New Ziggo, KPN’s main competitor, offers ARD Das Erste, WDR, NDR, RTL Television, Sat.1 in its basic tier.
However, satellite DTH viewers have the widest choice of German language channels; all public channels from ARD (including all regional channels) and ZDF are available on satellite in both HD and SD quality, while all private broadcasters are free-to-air in SD. The HD version of the commercial broadcasters are part of the Astra HD+ bouquet.
