Telekom Romania plans to invest €160 million this year on developing its network and services, according to Nikolai Beckers, the company’s CEO.
Quoted by Hotnews, he added that some of the budget for the investment would come from the sale of properties and old copper infrastructure, with the latter being replaced by modern FTTH technology.
Beckers also said that the telco sold real estate worth €11.6 million in 2014. This total should rise to between €25-29 million this year, with €20-25 million being sufficient to pay to reach 300,000 households with the company’s fibre-optic network. The latter should be in reach of 2 million homes by the end of 2016.
Telekom Romania is a key player in Romania’s TV industry. It ended 2014 with a total of 1.41 million cable, DTH and IPTV customers, or 4.5% more than a year earlier.
