The Polish Office of Electronic Communications (UKE) has announced a tender for what operating what will be the country’s eighth DTT multiplex.
Wirtualne Media reports that one of the applicants for the 15-year licence is likely to be Polski Operator Telewizjny (POT), a joint venture between the leading broadcasters Polsat and TVN.
The multiplex, known as MUX-8, will distribute four commercial channels and up to three from the public broadcaster TVP.
Significantly, the winner of the operator’s licence will play no part in selecting the commercial channels, with the National Broadcasting Council (KRRiT) being assigned the task.
The operator of MUX-8 will be required to ensure that 95% of the population will be able to watch its services via fixed methods of reception.
