Spain’s National Commission of Markets and Competition (CNMC) have initiated disciplinary proceedings against Mediaset for alleged breaches of the general law on audiovisual communication.
The breaches relate to a programme (‘What a happy time’) broadcast on Saturday and Sunday afternoons on the Mediaset owned station Telecinco that allegedly had hidden advertising of products and services.
The CNMC observed these irregularities between December 2014 and February this year and classifies them as an “administrative offence of a serious nature”.
They could result in Mediaset, which has 15 days to respond to the charges, being fined from €100,001 to €500,000.
