Arqiva building Freeview Play on SeaChange metadata system

FreeviewPlaySeaChange has said Arqiva is using its software and professional services to help create the metadata foundation for Freeview Play. 

The new subscription-free connected TV offer is being jointly run by the BBC, Sky, Channel 4, ITV and Arqiva, all shareholders in the DTT marketing platform.

The SeaChange Adrenalin multiscreen video platform provides Arqiva with the flexibility to aggregate, manage and deliver metadata from multiple sources for the Freeview electronic program guide for connected TVs and set-top boxes. It will enable Freeview viewers to navigate seamlessly between live TV and on-demand content, including programs offered through BBC iPlayer, ITV Player, 4oD and Demand 5.

“The metadata system Arqiva is developing, utilising SeaChange Adrenalin, will form the backbone of the new Freeview platform and sustain its value for years to come,” said Tom Cape, Director of Connected Solutions at Arqiva. “SeaChange Adrenalin is ideal for the metadata system we are developing for the new Freeview Play service, designed to bring the benefits of connected TV to everyone.”

SeaChange Adrenalin enables video service providers to deliver advanced linear, time shift, VOD and nPVR services via a single, unified back office for a personalised experience.
