Growth in Russia’s ad market slowed significantly in 2014, with the 4% posted in 2014 being less than half the 10.1% recorded a year earlier.
Quoting statistic provided by the Association of Communication Agencies of Russia (AKAR), Kommersant reports that the market was worth a total of R340.1 billion in 2014. However, factoring in exchange rates, in dollar terms in actually contracted by 14%.
TV advertising in 2014 amounted to R159.8 billion, a 2% increase on the previous year.
Of this, cable and satellite services claimed R4.1 billion.
Following a ban imposed at the beginning of this year and its subsequent partial lifting, the latter is projected to fall to between R1-2 billion in 2015.
