The Czech public broadcaster Ceske Televize (CT) will not expand the reach of its HD services due to the uncertainty surrounding the future of DTT and use of frequencies in the 700 MHz band.
Quoted by Parabola, Ivo Ferkl, its director of technology, said that the regulator has not confirmed the extension of frequency allocations on the regional multiplex 7 (RS7/MPX 1a) beyond 2017, when they expire.
He added that CT would not implement any development of its existing networks until a clear strategy for digital terrestrial services is in place.
CT currently uses RS7 to distribute its HD channels CT1 HD, CT2 HD, CT Sport HD, along with the SD channel CT:D/CT art.
RS7/MPX 1a reaches 83% of the Czech Republic.
