The Romanian media entrepreneur Adrian Sarbu has had an appeal against his arrest rejected by the country’s High Court of Cassation and Justice (ICCJ).
At the same time, reports Mediafax, Liana Petrovici, a close associate of Sarbu’s and shareholder in some of his companies, has had her period of detention confirmed as 60 days.
This is double the 30 days under which Sarbu, a former head of Central European Media Enterprises (CME), is being held on charges of tax evasion, money laundering and embezzlement, all of which he denies.
