TV-2, which is based in Tomsk and one of the first independent privately owned stations in Russia, has ceased broadcasting.
According to Kommersant, this follows Roscomnadzor decision not to renew its licence, which expired on February 8. However, TV-2 will continue to have an online presence.
TV-2 was launched on May 15, 1991 and received more awards than any other regional station in Russia.
Following an accident in the Tomsk TV tower, which is owned by RTRS, it was off the air for almost two months in 2014.
RTRS subsequently notified TV2 that it would not have its licence renewed this year.
Rallies in support of TV-2 took place in both Tomsk and Moscow over the last two months.
