Bulsatcom to launch IPTV service

February 9, 2015 10.27 Europe/London By Chris Dziadul

BulsatcomBulgaria’s leading pay-TV operator Bulsatcom will launch an IPTV service on March 5.

The company began preparations for the service last year by establishing Bulgaria Sat, which will be responsible for the country’s first geostationary communications satellite.

Known as BulgariaSat-1, the satellite is being built by Space Systems/Loral (SSL) and is due to be launched in 2016.

Bulsatcom’s new IPTV service is the latest addition to its portfolio and will offer viewers over 140 TV channels, 40 of which will be in HD, placed in nine categories.

They will be able to subscribe to Fusion, a service containing 25 HD channels and giving access to VOD.

The on demand content will consist of over 10,000 hours, 1,000 of which will be in HD.
Bulsatcom has created a special app, available in Android and iOS versions, for watching the new IPTV service on smartphones and tablets.
Bulsatcom was established in 2004 and operates a DTH platform, as well as providing internet and mobile services.

Bulsatcom’s current pay-TV offer consists of over 100 digital channels, with its subscribers also being provided with internet access.

The company had close to one million pay-TV customers as of the end of 2013.
