German sports broadcaster Sport1 has acquired the free-to-air TV rights for the Europa League from European football association UEFA for the 2015/16 to 2017/18 seasons.
The channel will show one game per week live on free-to-air TV, as a live-stream on its website Sport1.de and on its sports radio Sport1.fm – a total of 15 matches per season.
The rights package of which financial details have not been disclosed also contains the highlights of all other games of the UEFA Europa League.
The German free-to-air rights of the European football tournament have previously been held by commercial entertainment channel kabel eins.
On pay-TV, Sky Deutschland will continue to show all games live. The subscription broadcaster acquired the Europa League rights until the 2017/18 season in December 2014.
