Freesat added a further 24,000 homes to its installed base in the final quarter of 2014.
It takes the free-to-air platform into 1.9 million homes with four million viewers tuning in every week.
The popular Freetime EPG now represents 50% of all set-top sales with the December launch of a Kindle version of the app pushing total downloads towards 500,000. It’s now possible to set recordings via emails, social networks and banners on the Freesat website.
Alistair Thom, Freesat’s incoming MD, said in a statement: “It is exciting to become managing director of Freesat at a time when we’re celebrating such a strong final quarter of sales, the recent expansion of remote record and soaring downloads of the app. Although the UK television market has never been more competitive, Freesat’s commitment to delivering a great experience through easy to use technology has enabled our persistent growth.”
Sales benefited from a fall in the price of Freesat products as the pay-TV sector increased prices.
