Banaxi makes progress in CEE

February 2, 2015 09.26 Europe/London By Chris Dziadul

Banaxi GoThe international premium VOD service Banaxi is already making an impact in the Czech Republic and emerging as a direct competitor to Topfun Media.

According to Digizone, it will soon expand its current offer of films and documentaries to also include series.

Banaxi, which is offered in the Czech Republic by Tesco through its Clubcard scheme, gives viewers the option of paying per title or a monthly subscription (Banaxi Go).

For CZK99 (€3.56), they have access to around 200 titles of various genres.

They can access the services online on smartphones, tablets and smart TVs.

The Cyprus-based OTT provider Banaxi Limited was established in 2012, with the aim of creating a strong international brand in VOD and live pay-TV.

It built a B2B platform capable of offering VOD services to more than 40 brands of smart TVs, the web and smartphones and now aims to build Europe’s largest VOD service within B2C.

Banaxi specialises in offering premium video content from major film studios and larger TV companies, as well as some local broadcasters and independent distributors.

Banaxi entered into a strategic partnership with Tesco in the Czech Republic in late 2014 to launch Banaxi Clubcard Kino, targeting the supermarket’s customers belonging to its Clubcard loyalty programme.

Banaxi made its debut in Poland, Hungary and Serbia last year.
