SmartLabs upgrades Georgian IPTV service

January 29, 2015 10.01 Europe/London By Chris Dziadul

Caucasus OnlineSmartLabs has upgraded an IPTV service operated by the Georgian broadband provider Caucasus Online.

The upgrade was completed in less than six months and without service downtime or customer disturbance.

It has resulted in a significant increase in demand for the IPTV service and in the near future SmartLabs and Caucasus Online plan to extend the service further with the introduction of OTT multiscreen services.

Commenting on the upgrade, Mikhail Grachev, SmartLabs CEO, said: “We are really happy that our expertise enabled the migration to be completed in record time and allowed the customer to meet this deadlines. In a joint project with Caucasus Online, SmartLabs has once again demonstrated its capacity to deliver the operator´s chosen strategy to develop its TV services. This project capitalizes on our proven track record of quick STB migration to a new platform, helping to extend STB life cycle and enrich the TV service offering available to legacy STBs.

“The operator has provided its customers with new services and enhanced interface, resulting in higher customer loyalty and new revenue streams.”

Nikolai Tchiaureli, CEO, Caucasus Online, added: “New Caucasus TV is a technologically more sophisticated product, with more user friendly functionality and visual, it´s more flexible and interactive. We already have a very positive feedback from the subscribers. Our existing customers as well as the new ones really enjoy new services and interface. And most importantly, the new IPTV allowed CO to position company as a strong, influential and worthy competitor in this field”.

Caucasus Online was established in 2006 and currently provides broadband services to up 150,000 homes.
