Imagine Communications has agreed to purchase cloud-based delivery specialist RGB networks.
It’s now planned to integrate the RGB slate into the Imagine Communications advertising management and video infrastructure portfolio.
A long-time IPO candidate, RGB Networks provides IP cloud-based video delivery solutions to enable media providers to streamline and monetize TV Everywhere and OTT services with reliability and scalability. It competes in the market with Envivio.
In a statement, Imagine said the transaction, which is subject to regulatory approval would include the majority of employees at the Sunnyvale, California company. Absent will be the ten-year CEO Jef Graham, but the remainder of the management team are expected to make the move.
“As the industry’s leading end-to-end video solutions company in the world, Imagine Communications is defining the blueprint for an IP, software-defined, cloud-virtualized, multiscreen future,” said Charlie Vogt, CEO of Imagine Communications. “Our customers require video solutions that enable content to be delivered anywhere, anytime, and on any device. The acquisition of RGB Networks, combined with our innovation in video playout and distribution, enables us to strategically navigate the convergence of IP, mobility, and the Internet, which has changed the way we consume entertainment and information.
Imagine was formed from the 2013 split of Harris Broadcast; yesterday Vogt was at a sales and customer meeting in Arizona, where he led customers and partners onto the nearby Camelbak Mountain.
