Vubiquity has appointed Nick Ruczaj as SVP of Commercial for EMEA and APAC.
Nick will oversee the company’s sales efforts across the region and head up its on-the-ground presence in the UK, Greece, Germany, UAE, South Africa and Australia.
The new appointment signifies the importance and breadth of opportunity that Vubiquity sees globally as it expands its foothold as the leading provider of VoD and linear services. It comes on the back of a number of significant successes for Vubiquity in the region, including launching eircom’s video on demand service and providing premium international content to Cellcom Israel.
Nick previously led Vubiquity’s business development in emerging markets, working with telecommunication companies and mobile operators across Africa and the Middle East. Having worked in the digital video and IPTV space for more than ten years, he previously held leadership roles at Move Networks and Inuk Networks and was also founder of the Freewire platform, providing triple-play services to more than 160,000 students in university halls of residence across the UK, US and Canada.
Adam Poulter, EVP and managing director for EMEA & LATAM at Vubiquity, commented: “When Vubiquity acquired FilmFlex, the business was quickly integrated into our established international operation in order to ensure it was scalable for rapid expansion into new international markets and could deliver the increasing services our VoD clients expect.
“We took the opportunity to cherry-pick the very best of the talent and Nick’s appointment recognises that he’s the most widely respected and experienced VoD practitioner in international markets without exception. Nick has a proven track-record in both developed and emerging markets. That makes him a rare breed!”
Nick Ruczaj said: “I’m excited by this fantastic opportunity. The digital video space is fast-changing and it’s rewarding to help operators in new markets, such as Africa, be the first to launch digital video services, and to support customers in more mature markets to evolve by launching new business models including digital ownership, subscription VoD, multiscreen and cloud-based services.”
