Switzerland’s largest cable operator UPC Cablecom will add several new TV channels to its lineup on February 3, 2015.
Teleticino HD, BBC World News and CNBC will gain carriage in the German-speaking and Italian-speaking parts of the country. Also, local TV channel Telebasel will in future be offered in HD quality.
In French-speaking Switzerland, La Télé, Canal Alpha and BFM will become availabe in HD quality.
The channel package Classic in German-speaking Switzerland will be expanded by Phoenix HD while Eurosport 2 HD and E! Entertainment HD will join the Comfort bouquet.
In the French-speaking part of the country Paramount Channel HD and Eurosport 2 HD will be added to the Comfort package will the bouquet will be expanded by Nat Geo Italy HD, Nat Geo Wild Italy HD and Nat Geo People Italy HD in Italian-speaking regions.
In total, UPC Cablecom customers will then receive more than 70 unencrypted TV channels in the basic package 43 of which are offered in HD quality in the German-speaking part of the country (27 HD channels in French-speaking and Italian-speaking regions).
The increase of the digital TV lineup is part of UPC Cablecom’s gradual phasing out of analogue TV which commenced in 2014. The move will result in the removal of all analogue TV channels on a region by region basis this year.
