Polsat is set to strengthen its position as the leading sports broadcaster in Poland by securing more rights.
Gazeta Wyborcza reports that it about to finalise agreements for the WRC (World Rallying) and Polish First Division football, perhaps as soon as this week.
The latter, which were previously held by Orange Polska, could cost Polsat PLN5 (€1.16 million) a year for three years. Both the WRC and First Division football would be shown on the proprietary channels Polsat Sport and Polsat Sport Extra.
According to the ad sales house Atmedia, Polsat’s sports channels had a total audience of 0.9%, which was more than those of Canal+ and Eurosport combined.
