The total number of Dutch households using VOD services has reached 3.2 million homes at the end of December 2014.
According to the latest research from the Dutch Stichting Video on Demand, 36% of all Dutch homes are now using premium VOD services. According to figures published by the association and carried out by GfK, 65% of all VOD usage is on cable and IPTV platforms, inclhding Ziggo, UPC and KPN, while 35% is on internet-delivered portals such as Netflix, Pathe Thuis, RTL XL and Videoland Unlimited.
“In 2014, not only more people started using VoD services, they are also watching more,” said Danielle Tamis, spokesperson for the Stichting Video on Demand.
“This spring people watched an average of two films and thee episodes of a TV series per month, meanwhile the VoD user now watches an average of three films and six episodes.”
Watching VOD on the TV set remains the most popular (74%), followed by laptop (26%), tablet (21%) and smartphone (15%).
