Viasat Ukraine has signed an agreement with the OTT provider Megogo.net.
Under it, the latter will provide all its subscribers with eight Viasat linear channels from the beginning of this month in its basic package, with the channels becoming paid-for services from 2015.
Andrey Burenok, country manager of Viasat Ukraine LLC, commented: “There has been a clear growth in OTT pay-TV distribution in Ukraine. Megogo are innovators and igniters in terms of user experience and marketing approach. We believe that there is a considerable potential for pay-TV channels in interactive TV, which gives us not only new business opportunities, but also ideas of delivering best entertainment experience to the customer. We look forward to deliver best content experience to most of MEGOGO subscribers.”
Ivan Shestakov, marketing manager at Megogo, added: Our strategic goal is to become the number 1 interactive TV service in Eastern Europe. We already gained the position of the biggest online-cinema for Russian-speaking audience around the world. Now it’s time for TV-service”.
