German commercial sports broadcaster Sport1 now offers its viewers the possibility to receive its programmes on the go.
The Sport1 Video App contains the free-to-air channel as a live-stream, an on-demand archive with TV programmes – in some cases complete seasons – and sports news videos categorised in sections like football, handball, basketball, ice-hockey, Formula 1, tennis, darts or US sports.
The users can share the videos through Facebook and Twitter or e-mail them to their friends. The offering also contains a programme guide for Sport1 and pay-TV sister channels Sport1+ and Sport1 US.
The free-of-charge app can be downloaded for Android devices in the Google Play Store. An iOS version for the iPhone and iPad from Apple is planned, a Sport1 spokesman told Broadband TV News. The exact launch date has, however, not been fixed yet.
