Serbian pay-TV market grows

Serbia flagAlthough Serbia’s telecom market is not as developed as many others in the CEE region, the number of pay-TV users grew by 7.6% to 1,552,000 at the end of 2013.

At the same time, according to BMI and Balkans.com, pay-TV penetration in 2013 grew from 19.92% to 21.62%.

One of the key developments in Serbia this year was the ratification of an amendment to the telecoms law in July.

It places great emphasis on network neutrality and has been welcomed by Telenor Serbia.

Furthermore, it is likely to result in the auction of a number of frequencies, thereby leading to the launch of 4G services.
