Pirate services are accessed by the overwhelming majority (94%) of Poles who watch online video.
Moreover, according to the findings of PwC and IAB Polska, published by Wirtualne Media, 30% of the total Polish internet users base watch illegal videos.
The majority use both legal and illegal sources to access videos: 73% in the case of movies, 49% for series and 45% for sport.
On an annual basis, pirate sources account for 400-500 million film viewings, 650-700 million series viewings and 150-180 million sport viewings.
Furthermore, nearly half of users of pirate services pay for them, on average PLN14 (€3.36) a month.
The value of advertising revenues from pirate sites amounted to PLN50 million in 2013.
