German subscription video-on-demand service Watchever has launched a music section.
The offering which contains concerts by German and international artists is available to all customers without extra charge as part of the monthly flat subscription fee of €8.99.
The concerts complementing the movies and series stock are provided by the world’s largest record company Universal Music Group and its subsidiary Eagle Rock Entertainment which, like Watchever, are part of French media group Vivendi.
The lineup starts with 150 concerts by more than 100 artists from areas including rock, pop, heavy metal and classical music, for example Rihanna, Lady Gaga, Amy Winehouse, Metallica, Slipknot, The Rolling Stones, Bruce Springsteen, Elvis Presley, Nirvana, Phil Collins, The Doors and Bob Marley as well as German bands like Sportfreunde Stiller, Rosenstolz, Ich+Ich and Silly.
Watchever plans to add several hundred further concerts by the end of the year.
To promote the new service, Watchever shows the MTV Unplugged concert by Gentleman, Germany’s most successful reggae artist, in the Stadtgarten in Cologne free of charge. Ahead of the official DVD release this weekend, the concert can be watched in full length both by customers and non-customers from now on.
