Telekom Srbija has moved a stage closer to becoming the majority shareholder of Dunav Banka (Danube Bank).
According to Seenews, the Serbian incumbent has filed an offer with a view to entering the shareholding structure through a capital increase.
The latter, in which existing Dunav Banka shareholders will not be allowed to participate, will be put to a vote an extraordinary shareholder meeting on December 19.
Dunav Banka currently lists the state insurance company Dunav Osiguranje as its majority (58.7%) shareholder, with Dunav Re (13.8%) being the next largest.
There is a trend among Serbian telcos to offer electronic banking services and Telekom Srbija would like to follow in the footsteps of Telenor and Vip Mobile, a division of Telekom Austria.
