Horizon rollout continues in Poland

UPC Poland Head OfficeUPC Polska has introduced the Horizon box into Poland. It has invited a selected group of clients to try out the service, which will become available to its entire subscriber base at the beginning of 2015.

UPC Polska launched the Horizon TV app in May and has just also introduced the MyPrime Films and Series service, recently describing them as the first two pillars of Horizon ahead of the box launch.

The app, now known as Horizon Go, has to date been downloaded by 130,000 customers.

MyPrime Filmy i Seriale consists of over 1,000 movies, series and story clips, available on an unlimited on demand basis to all UPC Polska digital TV subscribers to the Select HD and Max HD packages.

It is being offered for no additional charge in December, after which it will cost PLN20 (€4.8) a month.

Commenting on the launch of the Horizon box, Ramiro Lafarga, CEO, UPC Polska, said: “UPC Polska continues to introduce innovative services in Poland. Our customers want to be able to watch their favorite programs at any place and time. That is why we already introduced our multiscreen service Horizon Go as well as MyPrime Films and Series, offering unlimited viewing of a wide selection of TV series and movies. Now we take the next mportant step by introducing Horizon, the most advanced, next-generation entertainment platform.”

Grzegorz Esz, VP Marketing, UPC Polska, added:“Horizon sets the new trend in the use of modern TV, giving our customers mobility, multiscreen and interactivity in accessing the best quality content from UPC. This provides our customers with the best TV experience in Poland and gives them the endless possibilities of connected entertainment.”

Meanwhile,Balan Nair, executive VP, CTO Liberty Global, said that this was the first Horizon launch in the whole Liberty group based on RDK.

In an interview with the local media, he also said that UPC Polska has plans to introduce mobile services.
