The BBC does not rule out the possibility of securing a DTT licence for one of the channels it distributes in Poland.
Speaking to Gazeta Wyborcza, Jacek Koskowski, general manager, BBC Worldwide Polska, said it is weighing up various options to reach viewers.
Poland’s National Broadcasting Council (KRRiT) plans to award licences to four commercial channels on the next DTT multiplex the country launches.
Koskowski said that BBC Earth HD and BBC Brit HD, which will make their global debut in Poland on February 1 next year, would not compete with existing services Discovery, National Geographic, TVN Turbo and Polsat Play.
They will be unique and offer something completely new for the Polish market.
BBC also plans to launch a further channel in Poland (BBC First), most probably in 2015.
It currently has a TV market share of 0.7% in Poland and would like to eventually overtake Discovery Networks, which claims 3.1%.
