Vodafone is likely to be among the companies interested in acquiring Telekom Srbija, according to Paul Dzadze, the president of the British-Serbian Chamber of Commerce.
Quoted in Novosti, he added that although British experts are willing to act as consultants in the sale of the telco, it cannot be excluded that a British company may be interested in the acquisition itself.
Asked how foreign investors perceive the arrest of leading businessmen in Serbia on suspicion of embezzlement, fraud and similar offences, Dzadze said that it was a good sign, indicating that corruption was being dealt with.
Deutsche Telekom has until now been considered the front runner to buy Telekom Srbija, the sale of which was called for by the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) this summer and is expected to take place shortly.
