Ukrainian TV channels will not be excluded from cable networks in Crimea, according to Alexai Violin, Russia’s deputy minister of communications.
Speaking on a visit to Sevastopol and quoted by TASS and AKTR, he added that a ban would be stupid and viewers should have the right to choose what they want to watch.
However, he added that the majority of cable operators in the territory, which was annexed by Russia earlier this year, had changed the composition of their programme packages to reflect the fact that Russian channels have higher ratings than Ukrainian ones.
Meanwhile, the Russian Ministry of Communications and Mass Communications has proposed the creation of a media holding by the government of Sevastopol.
