German cable operator Unitymedia Kabel BW will commence carriage of CNN International HD on its cable network in federal states North-Rhine Westphalia, Hessen and Baden-Württemberg on November 25, 2014.
The English-language news channel has so far only been available in HD quality in Germany on the cable network of Kabel Deutschland and on Deutsche Telekom’s IPTV platform Entertain.
At the same time, Kabel BW in Baden-Württemberg will add Unitymedia Kabel BW’s barker channel to its cable network which has already been available to the customers of Unitymedia in North-Rhine Westphalia and Hessen.
On December 1, 2014 the foreign-language channel packages and the bonus channel lineup at Unitymedia and Kabel BW will be harmonised. With the move, US parent company Liberty Global conducts the next step in the consolidation of its German assets in order to offer all customers a uniform product portfolio in future.
